The first birdwalk at JNC was a very special one this year. Eriks Janelsins, Director of the Oglebay Institute Schrader Environmental Education Center was successful in writing a grant for the purchase of 30 pairs of Eagle Optics Denali PC 8x42 Binoculars for Junior Nature Camp. We also started a "binocular campaign" in an attempt to get enough of these binoculars for all of our campers; a week later we were able to purchase 47 more! We are so grateful to all the Junior Nature Camp alumni and friends of Oglebay Institute's Camping Program that donated. Each of the Campers now has a good pair of binoculars for the morning bird walks.
